Why a site about prayer?

The purpose of this site is to encourage us to each go deeper in our prayer life. One way that we do that is by praying together. Another way we do that is by praying individually yet collectively on the same prayer themes. Our hope is that as we share prayers and reflect on them and pray over them at the same time in our individual lives, the Holy Spirit will speak to each of us and allow us to encourage and edify one another in prayer.

Leaning Prayer

My Father, you welcome me into your presence - and that's a wonder in itself.  More than I can imagine.  then you invite me to lean against you...and a bolt of self-reliance resists.
But I want to trust you.  To relax the weight of my fears and anxieties against you.  To rest, to know how fully trustworthy you are.  Help me, Father.
I reach for your hand, feel your firm grip....and I lean my weight against you now.

  1. Jesus, when I'm resting against you, leaning on you, I am close and I can hear your voice. I come to you for rest. Pull me close and help me to rest against you, in you. This is the posture I want with you, resting, in love, close enough to hear your whisper. My heart overflows with gratitude that you offer this to me. Thank you, Jesus. I am yours.

  4. I lean on you this morning, Father. I am tired and weary and need your strength. I do not want to rely on myself - I desire to take your hand, to rest and trust in you. You are able and worthy. Amen.

  5. Jesus, you are beautiful. Thank you for wanting me to lean against you. I want to lean against you every moment. Thank you for forgiving me of love of self. Heal me of my love of self. Amen.

  6. Jesus, when I think of leaning you bring the picture of the last supper to my mind, John leaning against you. Let me lean my love against your love so our relationship is as it was created to be! I love you Lord. Amen

  7. Jesus, thank you for the invitation to lean into you. Leaning into you isn't natural to me - help create that posture in me. Eyes on you. Relaxed and at rest. Trusting you with the weight of my anxieties which feel overwhelming. Let me sink into you and lose myself in your presence. I am lost without you. You are everything and I love you. Christ alone.

  10. Abba, keep me two places at once: hidden with Christ in you and walking in the seen world. I want to carry your banner and always be aware of your presence as I engage with your world. Jesus, I long to see you in your glory as you draw each person to yourself! Hosanna! Amen

  11. Your grip is firm. I believe that I can lean on you and rest. No. More. Striving. Complete dependence on you. Absolute surrender. Relaxing and resting. Amen.
