Why a site about prayer?

The purpose of this site is to encourage us to each go deeper in our prayer life. One way that we do that is by praying together. Another way we do that is by praying individually yet collectively on the same prayer themes. Our hope is that as we share prayers and reflect on them and pray over them at the same time in our individual lives, the Holy Spirit will speak to each of us and allow us to encourage and edify one another in prayer.

Prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

O, Divine Master, grant that I may not so much
seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
it is in dying that we are born again to eternal life.

  1. To "speak life" is what I want to do. This prayer brings forth my deep desire for peace. Lord, train me to be your peacemaker.

  2. None of these come "natural" to me. It takes conscious choosing to sow love, pardon, faith, hope, light and joy. To choose to seek to understand rather than being understood. I know this is how God desires me to live, and He is the one who equips me to do so. Yet I am wrestling with this in the present because it is not my default and I find myself failing to choose His ways. Come, Lord Jesus, make me your instrument.

  3. As I pray this today I see the need for the Lord to Heal, I need him to cleanse my hate, injury, doubt, despair, darkness and sadness. I want to be open to his work done in his way and in his time.

    Lord keep me open with your love. Jesus, create in me a new heart. Amen

  5. Let me be one who sows hope over despair. Let me be one who displays light in the midst of darkness. Let me trust fully in Jesus, who is Resurrection and Life.
