Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O, Divine Master, grant that I may not so much
seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
it is in dying that we are born again to eternal life.
To "speak life" is what I want to do. This prayer brings forth my deep desire for peace. Lord, train me to be your peacemaker.
ReplyDeleteNone of these come "natural" to me. It takes conscious choosing to sow love, pardon, faith, hope, light and joy. To choose to seek to understand rather than being understood. I know this is how God desires me to live, and He is the one who equips me to do so. Yet I am wrestling with this in the present because it is not my default and I find myself failing to choose His ways. Come, Lord Jesus, make me your instrument.
ReplyDeleteAs I pray this today I see the need for the Lord to Heal, I need him to cleanse my hate, injury, doubt, despair, darkness and sadness. I want to be open to his work done in his way and in his time.
