Why a site about prayer?

The purpose of this site is to encourage us to each go deeper in our prayer life. One way that we do that is by praying together. Another way we do that is by praying individually yet collectively on the same prayer themes. Our hope is that as we share prayers and reflect on them and pray over them at the same time in our individual lives, the Holy Spirit will speak to each of us and allow us to encourage and edify one another in prayer.

The Deeps

LORD JESUS,

Give me a deeper repentance,
a horror of sin,
a dread of its approach;
Help me chastely to flee it,
and jealously to resolve that my heart
shall be thine alone.
Give me a deeper trust,
that I may lose myself to find myself in thee,
the ground of my rest,
the spring of my being.
Give me a deeper knowledge of thyself
as Saviour, Master, Lord, and King.
Give me deeper power in private prayer,
more sweetness in thy Word,
more steadfast grip on its truth.
Give me deeper holiness in speech, thought, action,
and let me not seek moral virtue apart from thee.
Plough deep in me, great Lord,
heavenly Husbandman,
that my being may be a tilled field,
the roots of grace spreading far and wide,
until thou alone art seen in me,
thy beauty golden like summer harvest,
thy fruitfulness as autumn plenty.
I have no Master but thee,
no law but thy will,
no delight but thyself,
no wealth but that thou givest,
no good but that thou blessest,
no peace but that thou bestowest.
I am nothing but that thou makest me,
I have nothing but that I receive from thee,
I can be nothing but that grace adorns me.
Quarry me deep, dear Lord,
and then fill me to overflowing
with living water.

  1. Give me deeper repentance, deeper trust, deeper knowledge, deeper holiness. It is you who quarries, who ploughs me deep. I surrender to you, the gardener and my master. Amen.

This is your world Father, forgive for wanting to make it mine. I am sick of my sin and the sin all around me, my heart is disappointed and hardening.

Who am I that you are mindful of me.

    Amen

Lord, do I know you? Am I following you or the idea of you. I need the Way, the Truth, the Life. The thought of loving the "idea" of you crushes me, but I am wondering .... I want to see your face, make me real like you, the you that I will not fully know until you take me home or come back here. I want to be true to you and truth like you. Nothing false. Amen
