Why a site about prayer?

The purpose of this site is to encourage us to each go deeper in our prayer life. One way that we do that is by praying together. Another way we do that is by praying individually yet collectively on the same prayer themes. Our hope is that as we share prayers and reflect on them and pray over them at the same time in our individual lives, the Holy Spirit will speak to each of us and allow us to encourage and edify one another in prayer.

First Sunday of Advent

Almighty God, give us grace to cast away the works of darkness, and put on the armor of light, now in the time of this mortal life in which your Son Jesus Christ came to visit us in great humility; that in the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge both the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

  3. “In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.”‭‭ -John‬ ‭1:4

Lord, as we ask you to give us grace to cast away the works of darkness, and put on the armor of light, we realize that we are clothing ourselves with you Jesus. You are light. We put on you, Christ. You are our armor of light. Give us grace upon grace - grace over grace - as we seek to live in full dependency on you. For your honor and glory. Amen.

  4. Jesus, thank you for coming to visit us. Thank you for not leaving us to die as outcasts. Thank you for taking us in, grafting us into your chosen people. Now, in this mortal life, make us join in your humility. Cast out pride and self, humble us as you we're humble. Thank you for your promise that you will raise us up on the last day! As you were humbled on earth and exalted in glory in heaven, so will we be humbled and exalted. Such glorious grace!!!! Grace upon grace poured out us. We respond with worship and thanksgiving!! Jesus, let our lives be ALL you!! Clothed in you, full of you, lost in you, found in you! Jesus, we worship you!!

  13. You are light, Jesus. Cast away darkness, even darkness from people who say they know you. I cannot stop thinking about the hate that I saw last night that was being shared with your name on it. Jesus, bring the light to the darkness, whether they think they know you or not. Jesus, bring light to the people who were damaged. Fill this season of Advent with your true love, mercy and grace. Amen.
